MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of the Renaissance Academy is to enable students to acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully pursue their post-high school education; to participate intelligently and responsibly in civic life, and in deliberation about local, national,and international issues; and to avail themselves of historical and cultural resources.
Requirements
1-Choose and successfully complete one of the Social Studies endorsement paths
2-Complete 5 hours of peer tutoring in a Social Studies course or courses
3-Complete 10 hours of Community Service
4-Complete a Senior Project in Historic Research (You will apply for admission to the Academy and enroll in the Senior Project course during the Spring of your Junior year.)
5-Complete all other requirements for graduation & maintain a 3.0 GPA
Social Sciences Endorsement
Required 9th Grade Courses (Choose One): Ancient History, Ancient History Honors World Geography,or World History
Required 11th Grade Courses (Choose One): United States History or AP United States History
Required 12th Grade Courses (Choose One): Government/Economics or AP Government/AP Economics
Complete 3 of the following Social Studies Electives: Ancient History (9-12), Bible History (9-12), Civics (9-10), Contemporary Issues (11-12), European History AP (11-12), Film Studies (11-12), Human Geography AP, Psychology & Sociology (10-12), World History (9-12)
NOTE: ONE COURSE MUST BE AN ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSE (with a minimum grade of C)
