Guidelines for finding Intervals on Which a Function is Increasing or Decreasing.
(The function must be continuous on the open interval.)


	1. Locate the critical numbers in (a,b) .
	Use these numbers to determine test intervals.
	2. Determine the SIGN of f’(x) at one
	test value in each interval.
	Use that value to determine if the function is
	increasing or decreasing.
	…..Positive means increasing.

	…..Negative means decreasing.

	…..Zero means constant.
