The SAFE HOMES COVENANT
is supported by Farragut High School and the FHS PTSO (Parent Teacher Student
Organization). Please read the Covenant carefully. Then sign and return the
form below to Farragut High School at Summer Insanity, the first floor office
of FHS or mail to FHS PTSO, 11237 Kingston Pike, and Knoxville, TN 37934. THIS
PROGRAM IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY. Please sign this covenant only if you intend
to completely comply with its guidelines. Parent Agreement:
1. We will not serve or knowingly allow minors to consume alcoholic beverages
or use illegal drugs at a gathering of minors in our home or on our property.
2. We will not knowingly allow parties or gatherings of minors in our home or
on our property when we are not there.
3. We will actively supervise parties or gatherings of minors in our home or
on our property.
4. We will communicate with other parents (or guardians) who are concerned about
the safety of their children in our home or on our property.
PLEASE NOTE: The SAFE HOMES COVENANT is not a legal contract, but rather it
is intended to show a good faith effort to follow its principles. It creates
no liability for the School, the Knox County School System or the FHS PTSO.
By signing this covenant, you are not creating any additional legal liability
for yourself or your household. Such liability already exists under the laws
of the State of Tennessee. THE LAW IS CLEAR: If you are caught serving alcohol
to a minor or providing it to him or her, you can face serious civil and criminal
charges. For specific information regarding Tennessee law on this matter, please
contact the State of Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Commission in Nashville at 675-741-1602.
When you sign this covenant, you are giving permission for your name, address,
and phone number to be published as a participant to the SAFE HOMES COVENANT.
Your child’s name will be noted in the PTSO Student Directory as belonging
to a family that is a SAFE HOMES COVENANT participant. A printed list of participants
will also be available in the Farragut High School’s first floor office.
We hope that this SAFE HOMES COVENANT list will provide parents with a way to
check on the places that their children are going and will give them access
to other parents with similar concerns.
One parent from each household should sign the SAFE HOMES COVENANT, but BOTH
parents should review this covenant. Additional forms are available for multi-household
families. Though they are not asked to sign, please discuss the SAFE HOMES COVENANT
with any other adults (grandparents, siblings over 21, etc.) who may be living
in your house. Only one form per household is necessary.
I/WE agree to the four elements of the Farragut High School and PTSO SAFE HOMES
COVENANT. I/WE have discussed the elements of the COVENANT with my/our children.
