JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship Opportunities:

The Metropolitan Drug Commission will offer 3 internship opportunities to rising seniors in the fall of 2008. Interested students must apply by Friday, May 16. The interns will work directly with the staff of the Drug Commission to compile and maintain content for a local website designed for teens, by teens. Students planning a career in marketing, journalism, or web design are strongly encouraged to apply. Application forms are available in guidance.

Presbyterian College, Clinton, SC offering $2,000 to full tuition scholarships to juniors ranked in the top 10% of their class, and have scored at least 1200 on the PSAT/SAT (CR & Math) or 27 on the ACT. Deadline is March 1, 2008.

The Executive Women International group is sponsoring a scholarship for juniors only. Awards range from $1000 to $3000 each, and winners will have a chance to compete for a national award of $10,000. Applicants must plan on pursuing a degree in a business or professional field, and must exhibit excellence in scholastic achievement, leadership, personal merit, career goals, extracurricular activities, written and oral communication skills, and creativity.
FHS can nominate only one student for this award. If you meet the above-listed qualifications and wish to be considered for nomination, please see Mrs. Peters in guidance no later than February 1, 2008.

Furman University is accepting nominations for the 2008 Furman Scholars scholarship program. Students selected to participate in the program will receive renewable scholarships of at least $5,000 and may compete for additional scholarships. Nominees must an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher, rank in the top 5% of their class, and have a PSAT score of 135 or higher (critical reading & math only).
