** Graduation requires completion of either a 3-unit university preparation or a
4-unit technical preparation path in addition to the 14-unit core curriculum. One of
the three mathematic units must be earned in Algebra I or Math for Technology II.
University path must also complete Geometry and Algebra II.
*** Total units required for graduation: 4 units less than the potential
number available in the master schedule of the student's school (or schools) during the
four school years following the student's entry into the 9th grade. As examples,
schools on the traditional 6-units-per-year schedule offer 24 and require 20, while
schools on the 8-units-per-year schedule offer 32 and require 28. Adjustments will
be made in required number of credits in cases of students and schools in transition
between the two schools.

* Grade points for Advanced Placement courses receive additional weight as follows: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=0, X=0; limited to AP courses adhering to college-level curriculum established by the College Entrance Examination Board for which national AP examinations are available. Grade points for Honors courses receive additional weight as follows: A=4.5, B=3.5, C=1.5, D=1.5, F=0, X=0.
Class Rank
Rank in class and GPA are
computed for the graduating class after the first term of the senior year.
Quality points will be assigned as prescribed by the grading scale (see chart
above). Valedictorians will be selected from the weighted scale. Rank
in class will be indicated in deciles (top 10%, 20%, etc.) and determined after
the first term of the senior year.
Tennessee Scholars Course of Study
The Tennessee Scholars program is a rewards and recognition program for high school students, sponsored by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Tennessee Scholars are high school students who complete a rigorous curriculum and reach a high level of skill in several areas so they are ready for any post-secondary endeavor such as the work force or higher education.
