Neighborhood Watch

***This section reserved for descriptions of any activities***

Residents of Sedgefield participate in the Knox County Neighborhood Watch Program.  This program is sponsored by the Knox County Sheriff and offers informational material to the participants.  Sedgefield became involved in this program in 1998 in an effort to open up communication among the residents regarding activities in the neighborhood.

This program is about neighbors watching over other neighbors’ properties.  Neighbors may be the only ones to notice a burglar at your window or a strange car in your driveway at an unusual time of day.  Neighbors can only effectively watch homes to each side and to the front and back.  Sedgefield has 18 block captains, volunteers who call their neighbors if anything has happened in the neighborhood, like a break-in or car theft.  That way, all residents are aware of the happenings and can be alert should any further activity occur.  Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the sheriff’s department and write down a description of suspicious people, make, model, color and license number of strange vehicles.
