Sedgefield Subdivision
Rules
and Guidelines for Recreational Facilities
A sign listing pool rules is mounted
above the pool house water fountain.
Please acquaint yourself with them.
-
Children
12 and under and nonswimmers under 21 must have adult swimmer supervision.
Do not send small children to the pool with an adolescent
babysitter to supervise them as this violates this pool rule.
-
No diving is allowed because
it is too shallow. Always
enter the pool feet first.
-
Please keep entry gates closed
as you enter or exit the pool; close, but do not slam, the gates
securely. Please do not open the gates to someone unless you know the
person and the person lives in Sedgefield.
Especially, do not let children in if an adult does not accompany
them.
-
If you are new to Sedgefield and the family before
you did not leave you keys to the pool and tennis courts, or if
you have lost your keys, please call Gloria Blackwell (675-6087)
and arrange for key replacements.
If you are a new resident you will not be charged for keys;
if you have lost them, the charge is $2 each.
-
Any swimming lessons given at the pool MUST have prior
approval of the Homeowner’s Association Board. Lessons are restricted to the children living in this subdivision.
There are guidelines as to the qualifications and insurance
liability of the proposed instructor as well as hours of instruction.
Again, this arrangement must be approved in advance by the
Board.
-
The pool itself must be illuminated for nighttime swimming.
Although an automatic timer activates the switch, the switch
is usually left in the “off” position until turned on by those using
the pool. The switch
is located to the right of the pool storage room on the Mapletree
side of the pool. If
you are the first to arrive for evening swimming or the last to
leave, please set the switch accordingly.
-
All parties and special group swim requests must have
the advance approval of the Recreation Committee.
Please call David Mabry (675-2719) several days ahead, and
remember the pool cannot be closed to other resident guests during
your gathering. You,
as the resident guest, are responsible for all cleanup activities
associated with your gathering and you are also responsible for
any damages done to the pool or pool facilities or amenities by
anyone in your party. As a result of action taken at the annual association meeting
regarding concerns over the number of individuals involved in some
group events at the pool, group events are limited to no more than
10 people and a refundable deposit of $50 is required prior to scheduling
the event.
-
Please be sure to lock the tennis court gate when finished.
If playing at night, turn off lights when finished.
The light switches for the tennis court lights are located
on the panel by the electric meter near the entrance to the tennis
court parking lot.
-
Bicycles, skateboards, or other riding equipment of
any kind, which would damage or cause premature wear and tear to
the tennis court surface, are not permitted.
Also, pets are not allowed inside either the tennis courts
or pool fence area. Do
not allow children to climb on, straddle or swing on the tennis
court nets.
Although these items are not found in the rules, they
certainly require your attention:
-
·
Parents,
please accompany your small children to the restroom. Although it happens infrequently, children have made a mess
on the floor and other inappropriate places.
No one but the responsible party and parents should have
to clean up after such a mess.
-
·
Parents,
please do not allow your children to walk or run in the planted
area at the pool. Flowers
planted there by the hard work of volunteers are for everyone’s
enjoyment. Insist your children show the proper respect and behavior by
avoiding this area.
-
·
The
wooded area and trail is for everyone.
Children who go to the woods to play should not make additional
foot trails, cut or damage trees or shrubs, play with matches, litter
or in any way damage or deface this natural area.
-
Finally, we would like to remind all residents
the posted speed limit in Sedgefield is 25 m.p.h.
There are many children in our subdivision and many of them
walk or ride their bikes throughout Sedgefield.
Obviously, some streets like the downhill side of Mapletree
which passes by the pool or the upper portion of Sweetgum as it
approaches Sedgefield Drive are of special concern.
Unfortunately, too many of us (adults and teens) significantly
exceed the posted speed limit in our hurry to get to our destinations.
Please observe the posted speed limit throughout the neighborhood
and be on the constant lookout for kids on foot, bicycle, skates,
etc. Remember that
pedestrians always have the right-of-way.
By knowing and heeding these rules and guidelines,
you will help to make Sedgefield Subdivision and its recreational facilities
the best in Farragut.
